Senior Four candidates whose examination papers were postponed to mark Idd Adhuha recently will sit for them on Wednesday, the Uganda National Examinations Board has revealed.
The candidates were supposed to sit for Chemistry Practical Paper 1, Music Aural and Power and Energy on October 15.
However, it later emerged that Idd was used as an excuse and the postponement was a result of an internal error.
The earlier instructions Uneb reportedly gave to schools could not correspond with the actual specimens delivered for the Chemistry Paper on the eve of Idd, thus cancelling the papers.
Normally, before practical exams are done, Uneb sends advance information to schools to prepare laboratories but this time, the information sent was different from questions the students were supposed to answer.
According to a statement issued at the weekend, Uneb executive secretary, Mr Mathew Bukenya, said all other papers that were previously scheduled for October 30 and the subsequent dates have been pushed ahead by one day each.
This means papers like General Science (Chemistry) Paper 2, Chemistry Paper 1, CRE Paper 2, among others will be conducted on October 31.
This is the second time in two years Uneb is rescheduling exams.
Last year, the national examiner cancelled the IRE Paper after learning that some of the set questions were not on the syllabus.
A total of 295,494 Senior Four candidates are sitting for their exams at 2,788 examination centres countrywide
Primary candidates will start on November 4 followed by Senior Six candidates on November 12.
Candidates sitting business and technical exams will write theirs between November 11 and November 16.
