  • In Mitooma District, local leaders asked Parliament to restore term limits so that President Museveni can stay in office for the next years to finish his assignments.
  • In Mpigi District, a total of 71 councillors from 25 parishes, three sub-county chairpersons, religious leaders and village chairpersons rejected the amendment of Article 102 (b).

Countrywide. As Members of Parliament continue to consult their constituents about the amendment of Article 102(b) of the Constitution, Kayunga District local leaders were shocked when residents subjected the matter to a vote.
The MPs, who attended the consultative rally on Wednesday at Busaana Town Council, included those from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, Mr Amos Lugoloobi, of Ntenjeru North and Ms Aida Nantaba, the Kayunga District Woman MP.

Mr Lugoloobi first allowed his electorate to give their views on the matter, with the overwhelming majority rejecting the proposed amendment of Article 102 (b).
Seemingly, dissatisfied with the negative response from the electorate, Mr Lugoloobi and Ms Nantaba, again subjected the matter to a second vote by show of hands.
Those in support of the Bill were 39 while those opposed to it were so many that Mr Lugoloobi lost count and said: “ I am tired of counting.”
Elsewhere, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, said the current situation in the country has exposed President Museveni’s greed for leadership.

Gen Muntu made the remarks on Wednesday in Ntugamo District as he campaigned to reclaim his top FDC seat.
He said while they fought closely with President Museveni in the bush, he has since been greatly disappointed by his actions.
“The bible says we shall see them by the fruit. He [President Museveni] has undressed himself vividly. He is now completely naked. We must organise that when we take over power, we do not do the same,” he said.
