Kampala- The chairperson for the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr Badru Kiggundu, has said all is set for the Buhweju by-election tomorrow.
While addressing journalists at the EC head office in Kampala yesterday, Dr Kiggundu said the campaigns had ended and the commission had started dispatching the polling materials.
“We plan to distribute the polling kits to all the 120 polling stations on time so that polling commences at 7am on October 31, 2013,”said Kiggundu.
The EC boss, however, advised voters not to vote the independent candidate who had withdrawn from the race.
“We received a notice of withdrawal from one of the candidates namely Alison Byamukama (Independent).
This notice was officially received on Monday, October 28, 2013, the notification came after the commission had concluded production of declaration of result forms which bear the names of all the three nominated parliamentary candidates. The commission advises voters not to cast a vote in favour of Alison Byamukama,” explained Mr Kiggundu.
He said only two candidates; Jane Frida Bwiruka (FDC) and Oliver Kwoyekyenga (NRM) had remained in the race.
Dr Kiggundu advised the candidates who want to deploy their agents to present their names to the returning officer by October 29.
