The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has confirmed that a second prime suspect in connection to the kidnap and murder of Susan Magara is being kept by the police at Nalufenya detention centre.

The suspect only identified as Bob is said to be the man whose voice was heard in the recorded communication between the kidnappers and the deceased’s father John Magara, informing him about the demand for a ransom. Bob becomes the second suspect in the murder after Ronald Asiimwe alias Kanyankore who was arrested by CMI earlier.

Bob was reportedly picked by police when his co-accused, Kanyankore, was arrested by the CMI operatives.
“The information I have is like yours, I know he is with the police. We were looking for him, but we got information that police is holding him so we left it at that,” Brig Abel Kandiho, the Chief of Military Intelligence, said.

However, police insisted they were not aware of Bob’s arrest.
According to our sources, Bob’s second name is Kibirango and another suspect only identified as Sejusa was also arrested over the same case.
Sources familiar with the operations say at the time of arresting Kanyankore, Bob and some officers of the police Flying Squad were together.

Security scuffle
When the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT) moved in to arrest them, a scuffle ensued between the police and JATT.

Sources say both police and the military called reinforcements and it was only after the arrival of more operatives from CMI, Internal Security Organisation and military police that the JATT members were able to arrest Kanyankore.

It is said at the point when Kanyankore arrested, police swiftly took Bob away and drove him to Nalufenya to prevent CMI and ISO operatives from arresting him.
