Three more suspected terrorists arrested

Three people suspected to be terrorists have been arrested by police in Kyengera, Wakiso district.
The trio was picked from a house in Kyengera in a police operation led by Commissioner in charge of Organized Crime Francis Olungu. The Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura who has just arrived at the scene is expected to address a press conference on the arrests.

Security officers have also surrounded the rental units in a fence just near Gapco fuel station in Kyengera, where the trio was arrested as police comb for more evidence.

The Scene of crime officers are already at work and it is alleged that the suspects have explosive materials in the house.

The arrest comes just days after Police said they arrested a man of Somali origin but based in Kenya suspected to be an agent of the al-Shabaab militants.
The arrest was conducted at the weekend after students at Ark Hostel in Wandegeya, informed police of a suspicious man taking pictures of the hostel.
Security has been on high alert following attacks on a Kenyan university leaving 148, mostly students dead.
Mr Fred Enanga, the police spokesman, told Daily Monitor the suspect was being interrogated for his “suspicious actions.”
“He was found with pictures of the hostel and several pictures of warfare, including one in which he held a human head,” Mr Enanga said on Monday.
Police last Friday issued fresh terror alerts following an attack on Garissa University College in Kenya on April 2, which the al-Shaabab claimed responsibility.
Police warned that the attackers were now planning to harm Uganda whose soldiers have been fighting al-Shabaab in Somalia since 2007.
