The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Chairman for Arua District Hamza Manzu has died.
Manzu was admitted to Lacor Hospital for an operation last week. He was also the district Councillor for Ogoko Sub-county and Chairman Works and Technical Services in the district. Speaking to Daily Monitor this morning, the FDC Electoral Chairman, Hajji Hakim Moli, said: “He was a senior FDC official and brother with kind heart. He always guided the party well and where we had challenges, he would guide us. He worked to ensure that the party achieves democracy.”

Manzu has been the party Chairman since 2006.
The Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) voted him as the best performing district councilor in 2015. He recently led a team from the Parliament to assess the state of Inde Technical School.
The District Speaker, Mr Suleiman Onduma, said: “He was a major pillar of our council. It’s unfortunate that he’s dead because he was my mentor and a role model to many councillors.”

Onduma said the council is planning to have a special sitting session at 2pm to pay him tribute. This is the second district councillor to die this year after the councillor for Pajulu Sub-county, Christine Debo, who also served as former Deputy Speaker died two months ago. He is expected to be buried at his home in Ogoko on Wednesday.
