Being sacked doesn’t bother me - Mbabazi

Kanungu.
Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has said he is not bothered by his sacking as prime minister.
President Museveni sacked Mr Mbabazi on September 18 after serving in the position for three years and three months.
But speaking at the 52nd independence anniversary celebrations for Kanungu District held in Kanyantorogo Sub-county yesterday, Mr Mbabazi, who was chief guest, explained that he took his lone sacking from Cabinet in good stride because he was well nurtured.

“Many people have been surprised by my behaviour since I was removed from the post of prime minister. That’s how I was brought up. I was brought up very well. In life, we have to learn to be sincere and decent in what we say and what we do,” Mr Mbabazi, who is also the Kinkizi West MP, said.
The politician said he never applied to be appointed prime minister. “I am here as you are seeing me. Have you seen that I am missing something? I was here with you before becoming prime minister, being prime minister is not my life,” he added.

The NRM Secretary General also said from the achievements and failures witnessed in 52 years of Uganda’s independence and the 28 years of NRM rule, Ugandans need to learn to be disciplined, patriotic, fight sectarianism, promote unity and hard work.
“Those who shed their blood were patriotic. In all the wars, it’s not because I wanted to become prime minister. We wanted to fight bad leadership and poverty, that was the aim,” Mr Mbabazi said.

Mr Mbabazi added that the current leaders have done their part and, therefore, youth should be ready to take over.
He said despite the fact that many schools and hospitals have been built, the education and health systems need improvement. “We have to ask ourselves what went wrong. Why haven’t we reached the levels other countries have reached?” he said.
