There was commotion at the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Wednesday after hundreds of supporters of former FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye clashed with police.
This was after FDC supporters thronged the party offices where Dr Besigye is expected to be nominated to contest for the position of the party's presidential flag bearer in the 2016 polls.

Police fired tear gas and live bullets to disperse Dr Besigye’s followers who had turned rowdy.
One person is said to have been rushed to hospital after he was reportedly injured by a bullet.
The party electoral commission chairman, Dan Mugarura said that it is only Dr Besigye who will be nominated today (Wednesday) out of the three candidates who have already picked nomination forms for the top position.
FDC youth activist, Mr Francis Mwijukye told Daily Monitor that Dr Besigye will be nominated in absentia since he is still out of the country.

According to Mr Mwijukye, Tororo County MP and FDC treasurer, Mr Geoffrey Ekanya will represent Dr Besigye.
Dr Besigye's nomination papers were picked recently by one of his agents, Wilberforce Kyambade, in company of new FDC secretary for mobilization, Ingrid Turinawe.
Dr Besigye’s entry pits him against current party president, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, who declared his bid last Thursday. If he gets the nod, this would be a fourth bid for Dr Besigye, who first entered the presidential elections fray in 2001 upon falling out with President Museveni, whom he accused of turning the ruling party into an undemocratic organisation, which consequently lost sight of its founding ideals.
