The prelate has cautioned girls on the challenges of life and advised them to always do things at the right time.

Budaka. Bukedi Diocese Bishop Samuel George Bogere Egesa has given a word of caution to girl-children in Budaka District not to be subjected to early marriage, saying it ruins their future.
Bishop Egesa expressed his disappointment with parents who have neglected their responsibility of instilling religious values in their children and instead marry them off at a tender age.
The prelate said this while at Kamonkoli College at the weekend, where he confirmed more than 40 candidates and also blessed Senior Four and Senior Six candidates, who are due to commence their national exams.
“The worrying trend of cases of early marriages is taking an upward trend and this forces many young girls to get pregnant and later carry-out abortion. This is murder. But I don’t blame these children, rather I blame the irresponsible parents,” Bishop Egesa said.
He advised parents, irrespective of religion, to always ensure that their children undergo the relevant religious steps (sacraments in the case of Anglicans). He said it becomes a shame if it has to be done later.
Bishop Egesa, however, hailed the students for being brave enough to take this personal initiative to ‘right the wrongs’ that their parents had done.
The bishop also asked girls to join priesthood, but asked those that cannot to always crave to be true Christian mothers.
The school head teacher, Mr Livingstone Achika, noted that religion remained a priority for the success of their students.
