Black Monday activists arrested

Police have arrested three anti-corruption activists for allegedly taking part in the Black Monday Campaign in Lira Town.

Those arrested yesterday are Mr Jonathan Odur, the deputy executive director of Facilitation for Peace and Development
(FAPAD), and Lira NGO-Forum coordinator Dan Okello. FAPAD’s social worker David Ogwang, was also arrested in the morning
operation.

Heavy deployment
Police had deployed heavily at Lira Bus Park and around the offices of Lira NGO-Forum located on Kitgum Road, a few metres
from Lira Central Police Station, before the arrests. North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Suwed Manshur confirmed the
arrests, saying the suspects had not been charged but had recorded statements.
