Bodies of slain family flown home

Sheema- Bodies of Rev Dr Israel Ahimbisibwe, his wife Dorcus Ahimbisibwe and their five-year-old son Israel Ahimbisibwe Jr, who were killed in USA on January 29, were flown into the country last evening.

The Rev Ahimbisibwe, who was vicar of Redeemer Episcopal Church in Houston, his wife and their son were found dead inside an apartment in West Houston.

They are all said to have been beaten to death by their elder son. They will be buried at their home in Katete, Kyagaaju Kagango Sub-county in Sheema District tomorrow.
Mr Micheal Akankunda, a brother of Ahimbisibwe, told Daily Monitor yesterday that the bodies were expected at about 6pm.

Their funeral service is scheduled to take place at St James Cathedral Ruharo in Mbarara tomorrow at 2pm.
Mr Akankunda declined to talk about how they were able to bring the bodies home, saying: “I cannot speak much now, I will talk about that later.”

At their home in Katete Sheema, preparations for burial are going on.

A-Plus Funeral Service staff were digging the graves. About 20 people, including the mother of Ahimbisibwe, Ms Joyce Munegure, 84, were in a preparatory meeting. “I am fed up (with the saga). What I am waiting for are the bodies to I bury them,” Ms Munegure said.

The Rev Dr Ahimbisibwe, 51, studied at Ntare School and joined National Teachers’ College-Kakoba in Mbarara District. He relocated to the US in 1990s. He was a PhD holder at the time of his death. His wife was handling Sunday school. Their elder son, Isaac Tiharihondi, 19, was arrested on February 5 and charged with their murder.
