Bodies of two Special Forces Command soldiers killed in a shoot-out at Entebbe State House have been taken for burial, the army has said.
Special Forces Command spokesman Chris Magezi, said whereas Sgt Peter Makanga would be accorded a military burial Pte John Ondonga who is claimed to have started the shoot-out will not be accorded the same.
“We have taken both bodies to their ancestral homes for burial but Private Ondonga won’t be accorded a military burial like his colleague because of indiscipline.” “The army will however meet all the burial expenses because the family wasn’t involved in his indiscipline,” said Maj Magezi on phone yesterday.
Sgt Makanga a.k.a Mukwasi will be buried in Mbale today (Tuesday) while Pte Ondonga will be buried in Soroti. The two were killed on Saturday night after Pte Ondoga is alleged to have grabbed a gun from Sgt Makanga, shooting him several times.
Other soldiers on guard, responding to the sound of gunshots, opened fire on Pte Ondoga killing him instantly. The soldiers were members of the elite group that guards the President.
