The decomposing body of a man has been found in a swamp near a pineapple garden at Kyambazi Village, Kyannamukaaka Sub-county in Masaka District.
The deceased, identified by police as Paul Bakyasenga, is said to have been a resident of Butebere Village, in Buwunga Sub-county in Masaka.
The body was discovered on Monday by Mr John Katumba, the owner of the pineapple garden near which the body was lying. Mr Katumba informed the area LC chairman, Mr Peter Mulema.
According to Mr August Kisambira, a relative of Bakyasenga, he was last seen on the January 27, at a wedding party and his wife and family were wondering what happened to him.
Another relative, Mr Vincencio Ggambiira, attributed Bakyasenga’s death to a long standing land dispute within the family.
The Masaka District Police Commander, Mr Eddie Sserunjoji, said that no arrest has been made so far but police is looking for a brother of the deceased, who is reported to be in hiding, to help police with investigations.
The body has been taken to Masaka hospital for postmortem as investigations into the matter continues.
