Bunyoro mourns Princess Kabacunga

Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom is mourning the death of Princess Juliet Kabacunga Gafabusa Amooti, the sister of Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom.

According to a burial programme that has been released by the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Mr Andrew Byakutaga, princess Kabacunga will be laid to rest at Mparo Royal tombs on Friday.

Kabacunga's father Omukama sir Tito Winyi and her grand father Omukama Kabalega were buried at the same tombs where she will be laid to rest.

"Her body arrives today at her home in Duhaga, Rusembe II in Hoima town where a vigil will be held tonight and tomorrow (thursday)," Premier Byakutaga said in a statement released this afternoon.  

He said Kabacunga's funeral Service will start at midday at Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Chambers Ground on Friday 20th July 2018.

Thereafter burial will be at Mparo Royal tombs at 3pm, Byakutaga said.

Princess Kabacunga died on Tuesday evening at Mulago National Referral Hospital where she was undergoing medication.

She has been battling cancer, family sources said.

Pastor Nyakoojo Kaliisa Dennis Apuuli, leader of seventh day Adventist Church in Bunyoro Kitara said the deceased has been active in prayers and activities of the seventh day Adventist Church for more than fifteen years.

"we celebrate her life because she has been a blessing to society," said Nyakoojo.

Mr Philip Katahoire, the special assistant in charge of external relations said the Kingdom had received overwhelming condolence messages from Uganda and abroad. 

"We continue to receive overwhelming condolence messages from leaders and institutions in Uganda and abroad," said Katahoire.
