Bunyoro Kingdom has offered 300 scholarships to pupils who excelled in the 2013 Primary Leaving Examinations.
The kingdom’s education minister, Ms Harriet Businge, said priority has been given to candidates who excelled but hail from poor backgrounds. “The scholarships are intended to support the bright but needy children to continue with their secondary education,” Ms Businge said on Monday.
The district inspector of schools, Mr Deogratius Byabagambi, noted that urban schools performed better than their rural counterparts. St Jude Primary School, one of the best schools in Hoima District, produced 106 first grades and 44 second grades.
