Bugiri –
Police in Busoga sub-region have supplied free water to Bugiri referral hospital in an attempt to bring to an end a strike that had paralysed operations at the referral hospital, leaving patients stranded.

Workers at the hospital had decided to lay down their tools, protesting against continued shortage of water at the hospital, rendering hundreds of patients helpless.

They (workers) say the water had been cut off as a result of a repair that is going to take weeks before completion. It also emerged that over the last 24 months the hospital has been hit by water shortage.

A jerry can of water at the hospital costs between Shs500-Shs1000, which is very expensive.

The Busoga East police spokesperson, Mr James Mubi said the police decided to deliver water to the hospital until the repairs are done.

Mubi says the workers accepted to go back to work on that condition
