Butaleja residents want Museveni to fulfil pledges made 15 years ago

Residents of Butaleja District have asked President Museveni to fulfil the pledges he made about 15 years ago.

One of the residents, Sheikh Akim Wegulo said Mr Museveni pledged to tarmac the roads especially the Mbale -Butaleja -Namutumba and Tororo-Busolwe-Namutumba roads but this is yet to be done.
"It's high time for our beloved president to tell us when the work is expected to start. We don't have any tarmac road in our district,” he said.

Ms Teddy Nahire said some pledges are long overdue.
“We need tarmacked roads in our area to reduce on the cost of transporting goods to the market,” she said.
Ms Jackline Nmudira, another resident said Mr Museveni pledged to extend electricity in every part of the district but this too is yet to be fulfilled.

“We also don't have clean water in most of the areas,” she said.
They made the remarks at Butaleja Boma grounds where Tarehe sita celebration are taking place.
The celebrations started Tuesday morning with songs praising the ruling national Resistance Movement (NRM) government for the good governance and bringing peace and unity in the country.
President Museveni who is the chief guest has already arrived at the venue and he’s yet to address the gathering.
