Bwanika wants black book for errant police officers

Presidential candidate Abed Bwanika

Kayunga/Mukono- People’s Development Party (PDP) presidential candidate Abed Bwanika has asked Ugandans to document all acts of harassment exhibited by police officers, including taking photographs of anti-riot police officers teargassing them.
He said the pictures would be used in future as evidence to punish the officers in court.

Mr Bwanika said teargasing innocent Ugandans is a violation of their rights.

Responding to complaints from supporters in Kayunga Town that they were tired of being teargassed, Dr Bwanika warned that the police officers would be arrested and prosecuted after the elections.

“Many of us have become sick because of the teargas,” a female supporter shouted during Dr Bwanika’s speech.

This prompted the presidential candidate to reply: “These days every phone has a camera. Just photograph or record them on videos so that in future we use this evidence to pin them. We should not leave them to commit atrocities and go unpunished,” the three-time presidential candidate said.
Dr Bwanika held rallies in Bbaale, Nazigo and Kayunga towns on Monday.
He started his Kayunga Town rally with a call to supporters to contribute money for fuel to enable him carry out his campaigns.

Dr Bwanika also criticised the people of central region, where he hails from, for failing to contribute financially towards his campaigns.

“When I watch televisions, I see you contributing ettofaali to other candidates who don’t hail from your area,” Dr Bwanika said.

He said there will be no meaningful change if they vote out President Museveni and replace him with his former prime minister Amama Mbabazi, saying they all come from the same region.
