A Kampala-based business man was last Friday arrested and detained by operatives of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) on allegation that he is working with renegade General David Sejusa.

Mr Francis Butto Matovu, 38, said he was on his way from Lutembe Beach, on Entebbe Road when he was stopped by police officers before being arrested by plain-clothed operatives who detained him at Kisubi Police Station, still on Entebbe Road and later transferred him to CMI Headquarters in Mbuya for questioning.

“I was arrested by operatives in plain cloth who detained me at Kisubi Police. I refused to speak without my lawyer and that is when they transferred me to CMI in Mbuya. This is the second time I have been arrested and questioned on allegations of channeling money to Gen Sejusa,” he said.

Mr Matovu denies any connections to the embattled former coordinator of Military Intelligence since he fled the country to London, United Kingdom last year. Both CMI Chief, Brig Charles Bakahumura, and UPDF spokesman Paddy Ankunda confirmed the questioning.

Brig Bakahumura said the CMI had gotten information that Mr Matovu was recruiting youths to join Gen Sejusa and fight government but when questioned, he denied the allegations.
