North Kigezi diocese welcomes new bishop

Thousands of Christians thronged Kahengye Bridge at the border of Rukungiri and Ntungamo districts on Friday January 6th, to welcome the new Bishop North Kigezi diocese, Canon Benon Magezi.

The Bishop-elect was welcomed from his three-month holiday as he prepared to be consecrated as the bishop of North Kigezi to replace the outgoing bishop Rt. Rev Patric Tugume Tusingwire on January 8th. The welcome took place at Emmanuel Cathedral and the

Bishop-elect thanked God for his mercy and the Christians for their love and the welcome they have showed him.
Rt. Rev Tusingwire called for a combined spirit in maintaining the peace in the country and the diocese that has favoured a peaceful transition of all five bishops. Magezi is the fifth bishop of North Kigezi that was founded in 1987. He will be consecrated on the 8th of January 2016.
