A Kampala-based business man has been arrested and detained at Kajjansi police on allegations that he is working with renegade General David Sejusa.
Police last night raided Mr Francis Butto Matovu’s home in Lwezza Zone A Makindye Division but were blocked from entering his premises until this morning at around 9:00 am when the business man opened his gate.
Mr Matovu’s lawyer Michael Mabike who arrived at his home shortly before his arrest told Daily Monitor that police did not have a search warrant and therefore the operation was illegal.
“Police came here at midnight but they were not allowed to enter. At around 3:00 am, police tried to break in but they were scared away by Matovu’s barking dogs. He got arrested shortly after my arrival at 9:00 am an taken to Kajjansi police for questioning although police has not yet told us why they have arrested him,” said Mabike.
This is the third time Mr Matovu is arrested and questioned on allegations of channelling money to Gen David Sejusa.
In August, the 38-year-old businessman was arrested and detained by operatives of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) on allegation that he is working renegade Gen Sejusa.

He said he was on his way from Lutembe Beach, on Entebbe Road when he was stopped by police officers before being arrested by plain-clothed operatives who detained him at Kisubi Police Station, still on Entebbe Road and later transferred him to CMI Headquarters in Mbuya for questioning.
Mr Matovu denies any connections to the embattled former coordinator of intelligence agencies since he fled the country to London, United Kingdom last year. Both CMI Chief, Brig Charles Bakahumura, and UPDF spokesman Paddy Ankunda confirmed the questioning.
