KAMPALA. The High Court in Kampala on Friday granted bail to Ivan Kamyuka who was charged with the murder of his friend in Club Guvnor last year.
The trial judge Masalu Musene granted Kamyuka a cash bail of Shs5 million after presenting substantial sureties.
His sureties were each bonded Shs20 million not cash.
“Article 23 of the constitution exercises a constitutional right for any person to be released on bail. The sureties presented by the applicant (Kamyuka) are under his control since they are all close relatives who will always ensure that he goes to court,” the judge said.

The judge also ordered Kamyuka to report to the deputy registrar of the High Court-Criminal Division twice a month.
According to prosecution, Kamyuka on August 2, 2015, at Club Guvnor, First Street, Industrial Area, Central Division in Kampala District, with malice aforethought, unlawfully killed John Ahimbisibwe.
Ahimbisibwe alias Jonnie died following a confrontation with Kamyuka in the wee hours of the fateful day.
Ahimbisibwe reportedly sustained a cut from a broken glass in the neck, and bled to death. Police were alerted and arrested Mr Kamyuka as the lead suspect.
