Congregant drops dead shortly after attending prayers

A 45-year-old woman dropped dead on Wednesday morning under unclear circumstances shortly after attending prayers at St. James Church in Jinja town.

Kiira region police spokesperson, Ms Diana Nandawula identified the deceased as Flavia Kalikwani, a resident of Buwenda village Mafubira Sub-County in Jinja District.

Some members of the congregation said they had seen her several times in church for the morning prayers.

“She has been coming to church every morning. After crossing the road, she fell and hit her neck on the bench outside the kiosk where she wanted to sit. I think she broke her neck or something,” said one of the witnesses who asked not to be named in this story.

Another man said; “the lady could have been suffering from epilepsy because she was foaming in the mouth.”

According to police, Kalikwani was drunk by the time of the incident.
