Corrupt officials poisoned me - RDC

Apac- The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Apac, Mr John Robert Omuut, has claimed he had been poisoned by some unnamed people over his role in fighting corruption in the district.
Providing an explanation for the disfiguring condition he has suffered for the last four months, the RDC said if it was not for God’s favour, he would be dead.
Mr Omuut said tests done at a hospital in Kumi District confirmed that his food had been poisoned.
He made the revelation at the Apac Anti-Corruption Coalition (TAACC) Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) project meeting at Omodi Hotel, Apac Town, on Wednesday.
Because of his condition, the RDC said he had asked for a one month leave of absence. “I will be back in July, I am fresh and ready to fight on,” the RDC said.
The district police commander, Mr Alphonse Ojangole, confirmed that poisoning in Apac is real, saying it was his biggest surprise when he was posted there a few months ago.
The Oyam District chief administrative officer, Mr Stephen Ouma, said corruption, poisoning and witchcraft cuts across the three districts of Kole, Apac and Oyam.
Oyam RDC Jillian Akullu confirmed that the district has been battling witchcraft at Iyanyi, Anyeke and Iceme government-aided primary schools.
However, Kole RDC Oyaa Nahori Awua warned that nobody will frustrate their efforts in fighting corruption.
