Court orders State over Bagyenda’s murder case

KAMPALA- Grade One Magistrate at Nakawa Court Ms Margaret Aanyu has ordered the prosecution to complete investigations into the murder case against Brian Bagyenda.

Bagyenda, a son of Director General of Internal Security Organisation, Col Frank Bagyenda Kaka (retired) is charged with murdering his 22-year-old girlfriend Enid Twijukye,  who was a student of International Relations at Ndejje University.

Ms Aanyu made the order after state prosecutor Ms Joyce Anyango said investigations into the case were still incomplete and sought an adjournment.

“The six months in which a person is supposed to be released on bail if you fail to complete your investigations are about to elapse,” Ms Aanyu warned the prosecution before adjourning the case to June 8 for further mention.

Mr Bagyenda  has been on remand in Luzira Prison since February 1 when he was charged with murder of his girlfriend.

Mr Bagyenda, a pharmacist, is charged with two others Mr Innocent Bainomugisha and Mr Vincent Rwahwire. They are represented by lawyer Fred Erisata.

Particulars of the offence state that on January 4, 2016 at Njobe Road in Nakawa Division, Kampala, Bagyenda and his co-accused murdered  Twijukye and dumped her body in Seeta, Mukono District.

The suspects were arrested  on January 18 after printouts from the deceased’s cellular phone showed that Bagyenda was the last person  Twijukye frequently called before she disappeared from her home in Namugongo, Wakiso District where she lived with her sister.
