Kampala- Court has directed the commissioner of Land Registration, Ms Sarah Basangwa Kulata, to furnish lawyers with documents to allow her cross-examination over a case in which a family sued the government over Katanga land near Wandegeya, a Kampala suburb.
Kampala High Court Judge Alphonse Owinyi Dollo gave Ms Kulata up to Thursday this week to avail the documents for the case to proceed on Friday.
Ms Kulata, a defence witness in the case filed in 2000 by four family members, yesterday appeared in court for cross-examination in the land case against Makerere University, the Attorney General and the chief registrar of titles.
The group is challenging the cancellation of their land titles by the registrar of titles and unlawful possession of their land by Makerere.
Court had set the cross-examination of Ms Kulata after her testimony in which she told court that the land in dispute was allocated to the university in the 1940s.
However, court documents indicate that the land was formerly owned by late Rev Samwili Mukasa who transferred it into the names of his two sons.
