Kayunga. Residents of Kitimbwa Trading Centre in Wabwoko Sub-county, Kayunga District, are still in shock after crime preventer was beheaded by a traditional healer in a suspected ritual murder.
The district officer in charge of criminal investigations, Mr Maliserino Mulema, on Wednesday identified the deceased as Saul Kajara,18, a resident of Kitimbwa.
Mr Maliserino said on Sunday night, the suspect, who is now on the run, called the deceased at his home in the same area.
“It is said the healer and the deceased had a business deal they were going to execute together. The deceased carried with him a mattress and Shs400,000,” Mr Maliserino said.
However, on arrival, the police officer said it is suspected that the healer turned against his friend and hit him on the head with a hammer into unconsciousness.
He allegedly beheaded him and chopped off his private parts.
The healer allegedly solely took Kajara’s torso to his garden for burial.
However, Mr Maliserino said the suspect failed to dig a grave deep enough to bury the body.
“In the night, he called a colleague, who is also a traditional healer to help him dig the grave before daybreak. However, when the colleague reached there, he went back promising he was going to get a hoe but instead went to Kitimbwa Police Post and reported the matter,” he said.
Mr Maliserino said police arrested the healer and he took them to his shrine where they discovered Kajara’s head and private parts. They also discovered three human skulls.
However, under unclear circumstances, the healer escaped as he was being taken to the police post.
Mr Maliserino said the police took the body to Kayunga Hospital mortuary for postmortem as they continued hunting the suspect. “We shall charge him with murder,” he said.
