DP-leaning candidate wins Makerere guild race

MAKERERE – Mr Bazil Baddemu Mwotta, a Democratic Party-oriented independent candidate was yesterday declared the new Makerere University guild president.

According to the results announced by chairman Electoral Commission Roy Ndaula, Mr Bazil Mwotta polled total of 4, 594 votes (36.3%) to become the 82nd guild president.

Mr Mwotta was closely followed by the official  Democratic Party candidate Mr Roy Ssemboga with 4,276 votes (33.6%).

According to EC chairman Roy Ndaula the elections were free and fair. He, however, asked those who are uncomfortable with the results to seek legal redress.
