Some Congolese refugees who had fled their country last week fearing fire between government forces and ADF rebels have started returning home.
According to the police spokesperson for Rwenzori sub-region, Mr Bakari Mugah Bashir, “The situation at the border is now calm.”
The army spokesperson Lt Ninsiima Rwemijuma in Bundibugyo, said: “Kamango town in eastern DRC that was attacked is now okay and business has returned to normal but we have cautioned them over insecurity.
He said some refugees leave camps in Uganda and cross the border to get food and return.
However, more than 800 children are currently stranded in the refugee camps in Bundibugyo after their parents got misplaced in the struggle to save their lives.
Bundibugyo Woman MP Harriet Ntabazi told journalists on Sunday that they have tried tracing for the parents in other camps but they have failed.
“We do not know whether their parents are still alive,” Ms Ntabazi said, adding that some of the children were currently being catered for by merciful parents.
