Dembe FM radio, a subsidiary of Monitor Publication Limited, has made changes in their programming to keep pace with the changing demand of their target audience.

Speaking to Daily Monitor recently, Mr Joseph Beyanga, the head of radios, said the needs of the society and audiences keep changing over time so the radio had to re-adjust and fine tune the content to keep pace with the listener’s demands.

“We realised that women in Kampala, who are our target audience, need information about relationships, how to be successful in businesses, how to take care of the children, among others hence the changes have been made to keep pace with their demands,” Mr Beyanga said.

He explained that more time has been given to female presenters and family shows to give them a platform to shine through.
Among the changes, as according to Mr Moses Kantogole, the Dembe FM programmes controller, the morning show Twezimbe, that has been starting from 6am to 10am done by Kasuku, Ruth Kalibala and Shafiq, will now start at 6am to 9am.

Mr Kantogole further noted that the Mubeezi show that mends families, done by Bina Baibe will then start at 9am to 1pm, and will closely be followed by Ssenga Nantume’s Gigenda Gitya show that starts from 1pm to 4pm.

Meanwhile, Ssenga Nantume will this time work alone after Jacob Omutuuze, who has been her co-presenter, was shifted to Dembe Taxi to work with Sam Gombya and Maama Paapa, whose show kicks off at 4pm to 8pm.

Ekilove Love by Prossy Patra has been maintained at 8pm to midnight.

Mr Katongole said the changes are expected to stick the listeners to the radio. “Our responsibility is to ensure that we keep our listeners on the forefront and tuned to the radio so I assure them to hope for the best,” Mr Katongole said.
