Kampala. President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the youth for heeding early marriage calls, an appeal he has persistently made to young people.
Mr Museveni was attending the wedding ceremony of Mr Moses Kananura and his bride Ines Mutesi at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel in Wakiso District.
“I am pleased to attend this wedding…there are a lot of weddings taking place. The people have appreciated the need to marry when they are young. I came here to bless these youths,” said Mr Museveni.
The groom is the son of Mr Donati Kananura of Butogota in Kanungu District, south western Uganda while the bride is the daughter of Mr Mbonigaba Murigo of Ruhengyere in Rwanda.
The President attributed the continued marriage between Uganda and Rwandan nationals to peace, saying “since Uganda and Rwanda got peace,” several marriages are taking place.
President Museveni donated 10 cows to the bride.
President Museveni described Mr Kananura as a pillar in the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He added that NRM became a cure for a disease that had infected Uganda. He reminded the guests at the reception that NRM neither supports nor subscribes to discrimination along tribal or religious lines.
