BUDAKA- The Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party president, Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, has said the NRM government is currently presiding over a collapsing economy in which majority of Ugandans live in abject poverty.

Gen Muntu, who was addressing a rally at Budaka Taxi Park in Budaka District on Tuesday, claimed the NRM government is selfish and “is like a miser who has all the resources but watches on as neighbours die of hunger.”

“If someone is poor, he has no say and this is what President Museveni has inflicted on Ugandans. He has ensured that majority of Ugandans are poor and can only survive under his mercy. In this case, no one is able to oppose him because everybody is poor and looking at him for survival,” Gen Muntu said.

He added that under the NRM regime, all institutions that would have provided employment for the youth have since collapsed and efforts by the unemployed youth to fight for their rights have been thwarted with an iron hand.

The FDC leader accused Mr Museveni’s regime of changing the national Constitution to suit the President’s ambition of keeping himself in power.

Gen Muntu asked the people of Bukedi sub-region to unite behind FDC in order to push Mr Museveni out of power if they wish to be liberated from poverty.
