Ekisaakaate to focus on social values

The Ekisakaate is an annual event that imparts skills in young girls.
Ms Stella Namuyimbwa, a mother, and one of the beneficiaries of Ekisaakaate has praised the initiative for turning around the fortunes of her children.
The initiative is an annual four weeks’ gate-away experience run under the auspice of Her Royal Highness the Queen of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda Luswata.
During Ekisaakaate children between six and 18 years are taught important practical skills and chores as well as being taught moral and cultural values. “I am a mother and my daughter, is always in school but when I heard about the Ekisaakaate I decided to take her there and I am proud of the values she has picked,” Ms Namuyimbya, a charcoal dealer in Mutungo, Luzira told the Daily Monitor.
This is the eighth edition of the Ekisaakaate and it is running under the theme, ‘Integrity: A precondition to development and Excellency’. It will between January 5 and 19 at Seeta High Green Campus.
Ms Susan Nalwoga, the Ekisaakaate spokesperson said this year the event will focus at imparting skills including cultural norms and values that are being threatened by the Western influences.
