Former Health Minister Dr James Makumbi has died

Former Health Minister Dr James Makumbi has died.
Makumbi who once represented Baale County as MP died on Monday at his home in Kayunga District.

According to a family source, Dr Makumbi who had spent the weekend at his upcountry home in Kayunga Town, was rushed to Kayunga hospital on Monday morning over undisclosed illness but died moments after arrival.

The ministry of health Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine tweeted saying: “I am deeply saddened by the passing on of Dr James Makumbi this morning. Uganda will dearly miss you. May he rest in peace.”
A relative said Makumbi who served as Minister of Health in President Museveni’s government and also the UPDF chief of medical services had been bedridden for some time.

His body has been taken to Mulago national referral hospital for postmortem.
