Former LRA rebel Thomas Kwoyelo to face over 90 charges
KAMPALA. The International Crimes Division of the High Court has this morning read out amended charges totalling to more than 90 in number to former LRA rebel Thomas Kwoyelo over his participation in the two-decade insurgency in northern Uganda.
Kwoyelo is indicted with 90 counts including murder, rape ,defilement, destruction of crops and property, recruitment of children as soldiers and other crimes against humanity which were allegedly committed during the 20 year rebellion.
After the reading of the charges before Justice Susan Okalany, the former war lord is expected to enter plea afresh to the amended charges.
Justice Okalany will then confirm the charges basing on the disclosed evidence and there after forward Kwoyelo's case file to a panel of three International Crimes Division justices for a full hearing .
