Police have arrested former Nansana Municipality MP Wakayima Nsereko Musoke and taken him to Naggalama Police station in Mukono District over unknown reasons.
Mr Wakayima was arrested on Tuesday at about 10:30am as he was addressing his supporters on issues regarding the Court of Appeal ruling which kicked him out of parliament.
Mr Wakayima's supporters led by the Democratic party (DP) secretary for Nansana Municipality, Silas Kasato said they are not going to sit back and watch as Mr Wakayima’s rights are abused by the police and the ruling National Resiastance Movement (NRM) government.

"This is very serious. Our MP's rights are being abused. Even the court ruling led by Justice Steven Kavuma to remove Wakiyima from Parliament and replace him with NRM candidate Robert Ssebunya who became 3rd in the 2016 MP elections was unethical and that's why we have decided to combine forces and go for him at Naggalama police station where he is being detained," Mr Kasato said.
However, the Nansana Division DPC, Mr Benard Katwalo said he had not arrested Mr Wakayima but “only picked him for safe custody.”
“As police, our role is to keep law and order, so we have removed Wakayima from his supporters to avoid the negative outcomes of his gathering. He is safe where he has been taken," he said.

Court of Appeal on Friday dismissed a petition by Mr Wakayima and upheld the High Court ruling that threw him out of parliament.
Mr Musoke’s petition was dismissed on grounds that he was not a registered voter and therefore never qualified for nomination and election as Nansana Municipality MP.
Mr Wakayima had appealed against a ruling by the High Court in which Justice Vincent Okanga had declared NRM’s Sebunya as the duly elected Nansana Municipality MP and ordered Musoke to meet the costs of the petitioner in the case.
