Former northern Uganda Youth MP Offungi dead

Former Youth Member of Parliament for northern Uganda, Gerald Richard Obedmoth Offungi is dead.

Obedmoth breathed his last at Mulago hospital where he has been hospitalised. The former legislator, who had been ill for some time, died of liver failure complications, according to relatives.
The 45-year-old had just been appointed the Resident District Commissioner for Alebtong District.

During a requiem mass held at St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Ntinda, the fallen politician’s friends and family described him as an individual that was simple and down to earth.

Deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah, who met the late Obedmoth while at Makerere University, described his former friend as a “young man who lived too short.”

Obedmoth who was born December 1, 1969, to the late Martin Offungi and Sizela Aporo, had 11 siblings, and grew up in Nebbi District.
He met his wife, Joy Florence Murungi, in 1995 whom he married in April 2001. The couple had two children together; Michael Vladimir, 13, and Desire Berkit Sizella, 16.
