Former works minister buried

Former Minister of Works Abner Washarura Nangwale was at the weekend laid to rest at his ancestral home in Nalufutu, Bunamubi Parish Bukigai Sub-county in Bududa District.
Nangwale, 80, was one of Uganda’s earliest chartered engineers and chief engineer of the first East African Community between 1967 and 1976.
The celebrated chartered engineer was Minister of Works in 1980 to 1985 when the UPC government was overthrown was a father-in-law of Parliament Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah before his daughter died.
“We are going to miss our grandfather, parent and great grandfather,” said his nephew, Mr Dennis Nakwekwe.
According to Mr Nakwekwe, Nangwale suffered from pressure and was taken to Bududa Hospital on January 16 at about 9.00pm.
“He recovered well and we started talking well, in the morning we continued talking before he died,” said Mr Nakwekwe.
