Four arrested over fuel theft

  • Police in Kibaale has confirmed the detention of the suspects.

Four employees of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) have been arrested for allegedly siphoning the company’s fuel.
CCCC is the company contracted by government to tarmac the Mubende – Kakumiro - Kagadi road project.
The suspects, all residents of Ngangi village in Kibaale Town Council, Kibaale district were allegedly found stealing fuel on April 26 a few kilometers from Nyamugura trading center, Kabasekende Sub County.
They were also found in possession of a rubber tube and a jerrycan full of fuel, 2 other empty jerrycans and 2 motorcycles Reg no. UDS 006Y and UEJ 113G which they have been using to ferry the fuel.
Mr Brian Wobusobozi, a security guard at CCCC said residents first staged a fight to block the guard from arresting the suspects something which triggered the intervention of the Resident District Commissioner for Kibaale, Mr Samuel Kisembo Araali and arrested them.
Police in Kibaale has confirmed the detention of the suspects.
