Two killed in Mukono accident

Two people have been confirmed dead and 15 others seriously injured following a motor accident that occurred at Kiyoola village along Kisoga-Nkokonjeru Road in Mukono District last evening.
The injured were rushed to Nkokonjeru Hospital in critical condition while the dead were taken to Kawolo Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The accident is said to have occurred at around 8: 30pm when a driver of taxi registration number UAR 511V lost control as he tried to overtake a tipper lorry truck and rammed into a group of people who were in a Kadodi (Bagishu traditional dance) procession for the Imbalu (circumcision) ceremony and killed two instantly. The group was heading to Nkokonjeru.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Emilian Kayima confirmed the accident and identified the dead as
Nalongo Kasuya, 40 and 13-year-old Joseph Wasswa, son to a one Peter Ssalongo Kakooza, both residents of Bumbajja Village in Mukono District. The injured are: Francis Bukenya, 31; Joseph Ssekandi, 17; a one Kizza, 30; Issah Nambagala, 18; Swaibu Naggwere and Steven Nsobya who was in comma at the time.
Others are Rogers, 12; Isaiah Biso, 7; Akram Ntambi, 6; Joan Nankumba, 12; Oliva Namome, 28; Nabuuso Nalongo Afua, 35; BIRUNGI Scovia, 14; Sande Ssemakula who was also unconscious then and another person who police says is yet to identify.

According an eye witness, Mr Julius Nkangi, residents went on rampage and set the taxi on fire.
