Four police officers arrested over robbery

LIRA-Four police officers and three employees of Bidco Uganda are detained at Lira Central Police Station over alleged robbery.
Mr David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga regional police spokesperson said the police officers are attached the Fire Brigade department and the Armoury at Lira Central Police Station.

The suspects were arrested last week after allegedly staging an ambush on Lira-Alebtong highway and robbed Shs45 million from Bidco employees.
One of the police officers allegedly masqueraded as a traffic police officer and flagged down a truck belonging to Bidco Limited which was returning to Lira Town from route sales in Alebtong District.

Bidco manufactures detergents and cooking oil.
The suspect, with the help of his colleagues who emerged from the bush put the occupants of the truck registration number UAT 635Y on gunpoint and ordered them to pull out all the money in their possession and made away with it.
