Friends snub Coco Finger dad’s burial

Singer Moses Okori, alias Coco Finger

It feels lonely when you lose someone as dear as a father and your friends fail to show up for the funeral.
Mourners in Ogwangacuma, Aboke Sub-county in Kole District, were on Wednesday surprised when friends and fans of singer Moses Okori, alias Coco Finger, failed to show up at the burial of his father Augustine Okori.

Okori, 81, died of high blood pressure at his home in Aculbanya village on Monday after battling the illness for two years.
Even after announcing the death to friends, fans and relatives through social media, none of Coco Finger’s friends attended the burial.
“My beloved dad passed on this morning (Monday, March 23). Burial will take place this Wednesday in Aboke- Kamdini-Lira road, 20kms to Lira town. Thanks to those who are with me (during) this sad moment,” Coco Finger had posted on Facebook page on Monday.

However, attendance at the burial was poor for both local and national artistes, according to the deceased’s relatives.
“It was indeed a big shame to the music industry and the fans when Coco Finger’s friends abandoned him at the time he needed them most,” said Ms Stella Oleke, the artiste’s relative.
According to Ms Oleke, not even upcoming artistes from northern Uganda turned up. She said only few fans from Apac, Oyam, Dokolo and Lira districts attended plus local political and religious leaders.
While delivering a speech after the burial, the artiste thanked his fans for the spiritual and financial support they offered his family.
The late Okori served at Entebbe International Airport in the fire brigade section in 1989, when he worked for the Uganda Police Force.
He is survived by two widows, 14 children and 80 grandchildren.
