Kampala. Former rebel leader and UPDF army officer Ali Bamuze who died on Sunday will be buried tomorrow at his ancestral home in Yumbe District.
The late general’s personal assistant, Mr Akasa Buga, told Daily Monitor yesterday that Gen Bamuze’s body will be transported to Yumbe for a night vigil at his home before burial on Wednesday.
Gen Bamuze collapsed and later died after attending an Operation Wealth Creation meeting organised by the Commander of Defence Forces Gen. Katumba Wamala at J&M Hotel in Bwebajja on Entebbe Road. President Museveni addressed the meeting.

Hundreds of mourners had by yesterday gathered at the late general’s home in Kitintale, a Kampala suburb, to commiserate with the family.
There had been earlier reports that Gen Bamuze collapsed and died at State House Entebbe but officials from the President’s Office denied the reports.
A statement issued by the president’s press secretary, Ms Lindah Nabusayi, stated in part:

“This is to clarify that Gen Bamuze had no scheduled appointment and was not anywhere near State House and could therefore not have collapsed there.”
Mr Buga said Gen Bamuze had complained of ulcers for a week leading to his death but only procured drugs from drug stores.
“For the last one week, he was telling me that his stomach was paining but he did not go to hospital. He would buy tablets from drug shops,” Mr Buga said.
Gen Bamuze , a veteran soldier is survived by three wives and 10 children.
