KAMPALA/KALANGALA- Special Investigations Unit (SIU) operatives have arrested a 66-year-old man believed to be of German origin and rescued 19 girls whom he has allegedly been sexually abusing in Kalangala District.

The suspect has been running a non-governmental organisation, Ssese Islands Health Physical Social Care Centre, that provides technical and health education to disadvantaged girls.

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the girls who are between 13 and 20 years of age.

“We got a tip from the residents and sent intelligence officers who confirmed the illegal acts. Some exhibits were also recovered,” Ms Nabakooba said yesterday.

SIU recovered artificial male genitals that the suspect was allegedly using on the girls on pretext of carrying out practical sex education lessons.

The deputy commandant of SIU, Mr Francis Oluke, who led the operation, said all girls will be subjected to a medical examination to establish if they were abused.
