Mr Bernhard Glaser, the director of Ssese Island Sexual and Psychosocial Centre at Mwena Landing Site in Kalangala District, has been charged with aggravated defilement.
Mr Glaser, 65, was brought to court in a police car at 10:15am under tight security and was guarded by police detectives from Kampala, where he had been detained since last week after his arrest from his place in Kalangala.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Mary Ikit, at 1pm in a fully parked court room where charges of aggravated defilement were read to him. According to prosecution, the German has defiled two girls aged between 12 and 14 years for the last five years (2018-2013).
Investigations still on
The State prosecutor, Mr James Opedun, said investigations by police are still ongoing because court wanted more information about the offence allegedly committed by the accused.
He was remanded to Masaka Government Prisons until December 31, when he will be brought back in court.
Last week, police arrested Mr Glaser and took about 19 girls, whom he had allegedly been sexually abusing at his residence in Kalangala. His residence also served as the offices for his NGO registered as Sexual and Psychosocial Centre in Kalangala District meant to rehabilitate sexually abused female children.
