Gomba Woman MP sent to Luzira prison over debt

The High court has committed the Gomba District, Woman MP Nakato Kyabanji Katusiime, to the Civil Prison in Luzira for 6mths, over a debt of shs80m she failed to pay to Kenroy Investments, a money lending company.

Court Registrar Irene Akankwasa ordered for her committal on the request of the company’s lawyer Tusiime Evans who informed court that Kyabanji had not shown any willingness to pay the said debt.

Kyabanji was arrested around clock tower by court bailiff, Mr Isaac Twikirize following an arrest warrant by High Court issued on August 20 this month. She tried to convince court on how she had tried to call the President for help, but Registrar Akankwasa ruled that the bailiff was free to take her to Luzira.

Her lawyer, Mr Moses Nsubuga had asked court for some time to allow her get guarantors in vain.
