Five people, including four women have stormed Alam Group of Companies located on 5th Street Kampala demanding payment of Shs33 million, which money they say was their due payment for the supply of charcoal.
Ms Lakop Paska, Ms Milly Auma, Ms Lucy Arachi, Mr Franco Koryanj and another an unidentified woman who travelled all the way from Gulu District in northern Uganda, said they have been supplying charcoal to Steel Rolling Mills Limited, a subsidiary of Alam Group of Companies since July this year but they are yet to receive payment.

They camped outside the gate, blocking company vehicles from entering the premises. This caused commotion and attracted several people to witness the drama.
The Alam Group’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Richard Kasibante, promised that the company would pay the women half of the money today (Thursday) and the balance in two weeks’ time.
“We delayed paying the money because of financial restraint,” he said.
Howrver, the Jinja Road Police Station DPC, Mr Moses Eliau who had come to calm the situation said the company should keep its promise because this was not the first time such an incident was happening.
