Kampala- Police are hunting for criminals who shot dead a Special Investigations Division operative renowned for tracking down armed thugs.
Hajj Abdul Sebaggala was killed near his home in Lungujja, Rubaga Division in Kampala, by unidentified gunmen at around 9pm on Thursday night.

“The thugs trailed him on a boda-boda motorcycle up to his home. As he was entering his home, they shot him using an AK-47 rifle and sped off. He died on spot,” said Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango.
Mr Onyango said no suspect had been arrested by yesterday but investigations had started.

Mr Sebaggala served in various police anti-robbery squads; Operation Wembley, Rapid Response Unit and Special Investigations Division based at Kireka, in Kampala.

Police believe the killers’ target was only Sebaggala’s life because they did not attempt to take anything from his car.

In February this year, armed robbers shot dead Joseph Bigirwa, the officer in charge of Kajjansi Police Station, on Entebbe Road.
