MPIGI. Police in Mpigi District have arrested a 30-year old man, a resident of Mbaale village in Mpigi Town Council for allegedly defiling an eight-year old girl.
According to doctor’s report, the act left the girl’s uterus damaged, bleeding and was infected with HIV/AIDS.
Mr John Male, a resident told Daily Monitor that the suspect promised to give Shs5,000 to the victim and he “used” her for four consecutive days.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday after parents reported to police about the disappearance of their daughter last week. Police searched for the girl and was found in the suspect’s room in the neighbourhood.
Mr Ahmed Kimera Sseguya, District Police Commander (DPC) said the suspect will soon appear before court since investigations have been completed.
“The suspect will be charged with aggravated defilement. We are tired of such cases because they are rampant in our district,” said.

According to Mr Sseguya, out of the 10 cases reported weekly, four of them are said to be defilement cases.
The victim was admitted to Mpigi Health Center IV for medical attention and the suspect was detained at Mpigi Central Police Station.
Mr Joseph Caleb, a district youth leader told this paper that many of the defilement cases are a result of negligence by parents and girls’ desire to get quick money.
“Parents don’t care about movements of their children especially in evening hours and remember, they need money to buy things like cosmetics, shoes and clothes. What do you expect from that?” he asked.
