Masaka- The Masaka diocesan pastoral coordinator has warned that for peace to prevail in the future, President Museveni should consider handing over power peacefully.

“With all the good that President Museveni has done for this country, he should be the one initiating that opportunity where Ugandans are invited to Kololo [Independence Grounds] to witness the first Ugandan President handing over power to another in peace and jubilation,” Fr John Baptist Kintu said.

Fr Kintu made the call while addressing believers in Kyazanga Town Council on Monday.

He also hailed the NRM government for transforming the country since it attained independence more than 52 years ago.

“I am always extremely surprised when I hear people rebuking the current government over some simple mistakes committed forgetting that Uganda has ever had governments which used to inflict much worse evils upon its people during broad day light without any reservation,” Fr Kintu said.

The cleric said it was unfair for people to claim that government has impoverished the populace during the 29 years it has been in power.

“Open your eyes and see what is going on around you and then give credit where it is due,” he said.
